Our Story

Honoring a Legacy of Conservation

The Richard Isaac David Foundation (RIDF) was created to honor the life and legacy of Richard Isaac David, whose deep love for Florida’s natural beauty inspired a commitment to stewardship that lives on today. His vision was simple yet profound: protect the places that make Florida unique, and pass them on healthier and stronger to the next generation.

Why We Exist.

Florida is home to some of the most extraordinary ecosystems in the world – from the Everglades and Big Cypress to coastal estuaries and pine forests. Yet these places face constant pressures: rapid development, habitat loss, and the challenges of climate change. RIDF exists to meet these challenges head-on, protecting what cannot be replaced.

Our Mission

We conserve, restore, and promote the sustainable use of Florida’s soil, air, woods, waters, and wildlife. Through stewardship, education, advocacy, and research, RIDF works to ensure that Florida’s wild spaces and outdoor traditions remain a living legacy for generations to come.

Our Vision

We envision a Florida where clean waters flow, wildlife thrives, and every generation has the chance to experience the wonder of the outdoors. By building on Richard Isaac David’s legacy, we are working toward a future where Florida’s natural heritage is not only preserved, but celebrated.
